Each year, about 75 juniors, seniors and graduate students in the CSU are awarded $3,000 each to explore and prepare for doctoral programs in their respective fields.

I’m particularly proud of this story because I was the only news source who talked to the man’s father. West Hollywood Jesus was a Los Angeles icon, and his death had a profound impact on many people. I left phone calls and emails for his father every day for a week, but it wasn’t until I drove to his house with a bouquet of flowers and a card that he would talk to me. He told me he shooed away all the other reporters and stayed holed up in his home, but my sincerity made him feel comfortable talking to me during an extremely difficult time.

The driver's politeness is something that is pretty unheard-of in the Wild West of L.A. traffic — where the norm is no turn signals, speeding and swerving — and it is pretty creative too.
